The Queen of England celebrates her first birthday without her beloved husband Prince Philip. He will reportedly have a quiet lunch at noon with some members of the royal family.
Queen Elizabeth is at Windsor Castle with about 20 staff members.
The royal family agreed to visit the queen at regular intervals so that she would not be left alone as she continues to mourn her beloved husband.
Her daughter Princess Anna and daughter-in-law Sophia, the countess of Wessex, were among the first visitors before her birthday, sources told the Mirror.
As the palace is in a formal two-week mourning period, events marking the queen’s birthday have been canceled.
According to the newspaper, she demanded the cancellation of the honorary cannons that take place on her birthday, and the postponement of the creation of her established festive portrait.
The queen hopes to enjoy the good weather with some family members and her two new puppies, Corgi, Fergus and Muick.
For her birthday, she is also believed to have video calls with her family, including William and Kate’s children.
Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926 at 2:40 a.m. at her grandparents’ house in London. Baptized Elizabeth, Alexandra, Mary on May 29 in Buckingham Palace Chapel. Her family used to call her “Lilibet”. Prince Philip was the last person to affectionately call her that.
She ascended the throne in 1952 and is the longest living monarch in the history of the United Kingdom and the longest living queen in world history.
