Another attack on a representative of the crypto community occurred in a suburb of Paris on the night of June 13 to 14, reports RBC Crypto.
At the weekend, the 26-year-old crypto-influenser from Tiktok was abducted and beaten in a suburb of Paris. The abductors demanded a ransom, but, having discovered that the popular trader had no money, they released it, the europe1 publication said.
A cryptoblogger, having 40 thousand subscribers in Tiktok, was abducted on the night of Friday to Saturday, when he returned to his house in Esson – the Department, which is not the first time in the posts of abduction. Four men forced the victim to sit in the stolen Renault Clio car.
The attackers demanded a ransom of € 50 thousand from him. But having checked the balance of his wallet, they found out that the trader does not have the same amount, and let him go, reports Europe1.
This was a continuation of a series of attacks on cryptocurrency owners in order to extort near Paris. According to the co -founder of the company, the manufacturer of Ledger cryptocurns, Eric Larshek, France accounted for 14 out of 50 such attacks around the world over the past year, noted in Decrypt.
This phenomenon received the name “attack with a wrench for $ 5” in cryptocurges. The name is taken from the XKCD comic book, in one series of which in 2009, the character explains how to get around the complex encryption not by hacking, but simply threatening someone with a cheap wrench.
In early June, the police arrested the alleged organizer of a series of abductions in order to obtain a ransom, which Interpol was already looking for at that time. At least 12 suspects in connection with abductions are also reported, but their exact number is not disclosed.
At the end of January, the co -founder of Ledger David Bland and his girlfriend were stolen in France. Balland was cut off a finger. He was released the next day, and his girlfriend was found connected in the trunk of a car in Esson. In early May, a group of kidnappers was arrested there in early May, who kept the father of a crypto -millionary policeman and demanded for his freedom from € 5 million to € 7 million.
In mid -May, according to the same scheme in the center of Paris, a group of unknown people tried to kidnap the daughter of the co -founder and general director of the French cryptocurrency exchange Paymium Pierre Nuaz. Masks in masks tried to forcefully put her in a van, but a woman and passers -by were able to prevent abduction.
