The ability to install Linux on new Macs with SoC M1 is getting closer. The new pre-release Linux 5.13-RC1 has already received support for some basic SoC M1 functionality.

At the moment, the operating system can already boot on the new Apple platform, but many things still don’t work at all. For example, there is no GPU support. There is no understanding yet when support will be full, but the first serious step on this path has been taken.

Also, the new Linux version improves support for AMD Zen 3 architecture, new Arm SoCs for servers and RISC-V architecture.
