SberBank announced an important innovation. Now the bank’s clients will be able to make transactions directly from their bank card account, including making payments and transfers to SberBank Online, even if the card itself is blocked.
As noted by the press service, the bank decided to make the card account payment and independent from the card, as a result, clients will receive more flexibility in managing their day-to-day finances.
The innovation will be gradually introduced in all regions of Russia; it will become available to all bank clients within a month and a half. When registering a new SberCard in SberBank Online, a payment account will be opened with it. Old cards will continue to be served unchanged.

Previously, the account was part of the card. We decided to separate them in order to give clients more flexibility in solving their financial problems. Customer service will be based on the account, and the card will be one of the tools for accessing the account. For example, to begin with, a blocked card will no longer be an obstacle, making payments and transfers to SberBank Online can be continued using a payment account while the plastic is being reissued. Later, we will give customers the ability to re-link the card to different payment accounts – so it will be possible to store their funds in different accounts, and the card in SberBank Online can be tied to the desired one. “
