“The action of Russia's air force is decreasing in the east,” Ukraine claims

The operations of the Russian Air Force over the East Ukraine have been greatly reduced after Ukrainian air defenses shot down several fighter-bombers and fighters in recent times, Kiev claims.

“The defenses supplied to us by Western partners are having an impact”summed up the representative of the Ukrainian air force Yuriy Ikhnat, according to a report by the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda yesterday Sunday 4/3.

According to Ukrainian sources, several Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-35 fighters have been shot down in the air over the past few days. It is not specified by what means.

Russia's military, which generally does not announce its casualties, has not confirmed the downings.

A few days ago, Kiev celebrated the downing of one of the few Russian Beriev A-50s, very expensive reconnaissance aircraft.

In January, Ukraine, as reported by the Athens News Agency citing dpa, reported that another such huge early warning and control aircraft, a flying radar with a key role in controlling the airspace and coordinating operations, was shot down.

Amid a difficult situation for its armed forces, despite the successes they announce on a vast front of more than 1,000 kilometers, Ukraine's government complains about shortages of ammunition and air defense systems supplied by its Western partners.

A Russian airstrike in Odessa in the early hours of Saturday morning claimed the lives of at least a dozen people.
