In Brazil, civil aviation handled 112.6 million passengers in 2023. This is the best annual result since 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic began, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).
Since the pandemic, this is the first time that the sector's results have exceeded the mark of 100 million passengers per year. These numbers represent 95% of the total movement recorded in 2019, according to a report released this Monday (22).
In relation to 2022, movement grew by 15.3%. In the domestic market, 91.4 million passengers were registered in 2023 (11.2% above 2022), while the international market totaled 21.2 million passengers (an increase of 37.5% compared to 2022), according to the agency.
December handled 10 million passengers
In December 2023, around 8 million passengers were handled in the domestic market and approximately 2 million passengers in the international market — 21.8% more than in December 2022. The numbers are 89.9% and 97.4% higher than in December 2019, before Covid-19.
Domestic demand increased by 3.7% compared to December 2022, while the supply of seats, measured in seats per kilometer offered (ASK), decreased by 1.3%. In the international market, demand increased by 17.2% compared to December 2022. Supply registered an increase of 12.5%.
Domestic cargo registered 43.1 thousand tons handled in December 2023, 5.9% more than what was processed in the same month in 2022. International cargo processed 69.3 thousand tons, 2.2% above what was handled in December 2022.
