The Kia Sorento PHEV hybrid crossover has been tested by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has been confirmed to have an all-electric range.
The Kia Sorento PHEV has an electric range of 51.5 km, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. In this regard, it is slightly superior to the previously tested hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, the range of which is just below 50 km (49.9 km).
The Sorento Plug-In Hybrid uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and one electric motor for a combined output of 261 hp. The petrol engine is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive in all versions.
The car has a larger battery with a capacity of 13.8 kWh – the same as in the Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV. The three-row Sorento Plug-In Hybrid will be offered in SX and SX-P trims and will be produced in conjunction with the Sorento Hybrid in Hwasung, South Korea.
The Hyundai Tucson PHEV recently tested by the same organization with the same battery travels 53 km on electric traction.
