The amnesty law for Catalan separatists, who had made the 2017 secession attempt, came into force in Spain, where its implementation will be in the hands of the judges. The controversial measure, which is expected to allow then-separatist leader Carles Puigdemont to return to Spain after six years in exile in Belgium, was published in the Government Gazette today to take effect immediately. This law, which was finally adopted by MPs on May 30, is now to be implemented by judges within two months. Judges will decide whether it can be applied in each specific case.
