The amount sold in the first issue of Superman is staggering

One of the few first issues of the popular superhero saved recently changed hands and scored a record price.

Action Comics’ historic No. 1 issue grossed $ 3.25 million in a private auction, according to ComicConnect, an online auction company.

The price is the highest ever recorded for comic 1938. The oldest record was held in 2014 by an issue of the same magazine, having reached $ 3.2 million.

ComicConnect’s Vincent Zurzolo, who oversaw the sale, said it was the issue that “is actually the launch of the superhero genre”.

His first story Superman told readers about the superhero’s origins and how he got to Earth, where he became known as Clark Kent.

The seller of the issue had bought it in 2018 for $ 2 million. Zurzolo said that while the first issue had circulated in the hundreds of thousands of copies, it is estimated that there are still less than 100 in the world.

Even rarer is the excellent condition in which this is found. “There is no comic book worth more than the first issue of Action Comics,” Zurzolo concluded.
