The annexation of the occupied West Bank is being considered by the Israeli government as a possible response to the recognition of a Palestinian state by France and other countries, three Israeli officials said, and the idea will be further discussed today, another official said. The expansion of Israeli sovereignty to the West Bank – a de facto land annexed to the Middle East war in 1967 – will be found on the agenda of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Security Council meeting, which will later be held today.
