The annual race of the world’s fastest cars has been cancelled. Bonneville salt marshes flooded due to rain

Every year, fans of high-speed cars and motorcycles come to the dry salt lake Bonneville (Utah, USA), where races are held as part of the Speed Week event. However, this year, new records should not be expected, because due to heavy torrential rains, this area was flooded. Last weekend, the organizers of the event decided to completely cancel the Week of Speed.

Initially, the Southern California Timekeepers Association (SCTA) canceled Sunday’s race, optimistic that the salt marshes would be dry by Monday. But due to the lack of sun and wind, the water has gone nowhere. Moreover, many participants have already managed to go to the lake and place their equipment there. Now they are trying to evacuate Bonneville in a hurry, but this is not so easy to do. There are reports that people are stuck in a viscous salt substance.
