A Russian court ordered the arrest yesterday Thursday of journalist Marina Ofsianikova, more than six months after her anti-war protest on a Russian TV newscastas reported by the Reuters agency citing Interfax.
Ofsianikova has left Russia, her lawyer revealed earlier this week, refusing to comply with her house arrest.
The court ordered that Ofsianikova be detained for a period of one month and 29 days from the moment of her extradition to the Russian Federation (if it is confirmed that she has left the country) or from the moment of her arrest (if she remains in Russia), according to judicial imgs cited by Interfax. It is also noted that the court had rejected a previous request by the investigators to issue an arrest warrant for the journalist.
Marina Ofsianikova was placed under house arrest accused of spreading false information about the Russian armed forces, following its protest near the Kremlin. Police raided her home last August.
He faces up to 10 years in prison under the law on spreading false information about Russia’s armed forces, which was passed by parliament after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, the Athens News Agency reported. She was initially fined for her anti-war outburst.
