The app to follow Santa’s journey in real time

To the delight of young and old, once again this year we will be able to find out how the progress of the delivery of Christmas gifts is progressing. In fact it is the app NORAD Tracks Santa Claus, born from the collaboration between the North America Aerospace Defense Command and the US telephone company Verizon, to offer children around the world the opportunity to follow the journey of Santa Claus while delivering gifts in the company of his reindeer and even asking questions on December 24th.

Born from a mistake, the idea was born in 1955 when an advertisement published by a Colorado Springs store in a local newspaper informed children about the possibility of phoning Santa Claus directly: however, the number indicated was incorrect and caused the phone of American Air Force Colonel Shoup to ring. realizing this was a mistake, he assured the child that he was Santa Claus and promptly invited his team to answer subsequent calls by providing information on the position of the sleigh. Nonetheless, since that time NORAD has never renounced this tradition and continues to respond to millions of families on Christmas Eve.

The app available for iOS and Android will therefore allow you to know some curiosity about Santa Claus and the Christmas traditions, the NORAD mission and the methods used to “trace” the position of the slide. For those who do not want to download the application, however, there is the official website: now also available in Italian language!

Furthermore, among the other Christmas-themed novelties popped up on the net we find once again the Google Santa Claus village which – for the whole month of December – allows us to spend some moments of leisure with interactive mini games, realize the selfie with Santa Claus or, also in this case, discover the stages of his journey while delivering gifts all over the world!
