The April Vogue cover is an appeal: “Let’s go back human”

“Let’s become human again.” Almost an appeal that the cover of Vogue Italia of the new issue on newsstands from 5 April launches to all readers. Following the theme of the Biennale, Vogue wanted to create a story starring Vittoria Ceretti, shot by Rafael Pavarotti that would represent an important reflection on the man-machine-nature relationship, with the hope and invitation of a return to empathy .

In the extremely artistic shots, Vittoria Ceretti lent herself, for the first time, to a very conceptual interpretation of herself: she is the protagonist and muse of a story of metamorphosis and transformation.

The theme is linked to what will be at the center of the 59th International Art Exhibition organized by the Venice Biennale. This edition will in fact focus on issues such as the representation of bodies and their metamorphosis; the relationship between individuals and technologies; the connection between bodies and the Earth.

As the photographer Pavarotti tells in a letter published in the issue there is a new and unknown world emerging, well beyond the reach of our gaze and our senses. Economy, politics, art and society are in constant transformation. Climate, environmental and technological changes lead us to rethink our actions and reactions. The man-machine-nature relationship strengthens with each new lunar cycle. This number highlights how in an ocean of doubts it makes sense to cling to possibilities.

Hence the decision to create a cover story conceived as a work of art. In fact, art, as movement and mirror of the Zeitgeist, reveals how alternative possibilities have been at the center of attention over the last few years. Artistic representation as an extension of the human being has conveyed to us that the time has come for empathy, fraternity and compassion to reign. The time has come to take on our responsibilities and understand the interconnectivity of the whole.

An Instagram filter will soon be available for all users and readers of Vogue Italia created by the artist Karol Sudolski, inspired by the cover story and the metamorphosis of Vittoria Ceretti.
