The armband that Ronaldo threw in the match with Serbia was sold for 63,000 euros

The captain’s armband, worn by Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serbia-Portugal football match, sold last Saturday (27/3) for 7.5 million dinars (63,000 euros) in an open electronic auction held in Serbia for humanitarian purposes. The money will be used to treat a six-month-old baby, Gabriel Djurdjevic, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy. The treatment of this rare disease of the spine requires the amount of 2.5 million euros.

THE Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Serbia and while the score was 2-2 scored a goal in the delays, which however was not recognized by the Dutch referee Danny McKelley.

The captain of the Portuguese national team, visibly irritated, took off his armband, threw it on the field and left. Firefighter Djordje Vukicevic, who was on duty at the koRajko Mitic΄΄ Stadium, collected the armband and donated it to a charity for auction. “I was a few meters away from where the armband fell. I asked my commander for permission and he allowed me to get it. We agreed to put it up for auction for Gabriel. “Before the match, I thought that if they gave us something extra for the service on the pitch, I would give them for the treatment of the little one, as if I had a premonition, the armband happened!”, Said the young firefighter Djordje Vukicevic on Serbian public television (RTS).

The online auction lasted five days and the starting price was 1,000 dinars, about nine euros. At some point the day before yesterday, the auction was temporarily canceled, when it was found that many bids that raised the amount to ten million euros, were unreliable. However, it recurred quickly and progressed normally until its completion this morning. The biggest offer was made by the betting company ΄΄Mozzart΄΄, strengthening with 7.5 million dinars the aid fund for the treatment of little Gavrilo Djurdjevic.

Indirectly and obviously unconsciously, Cristiano Ronaldo also helped, whose goal may not have a scoring value, but it has a humanitarian value.
