The American Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA has released an impressive new photo of the Curiosity rover taken from space.
The photo was taken by the multifunctional automatic interplanetary station MRO (Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter) on April 18, 2021. The picture captures the moment Curiosity climbed the mountain formation, which scientists named “Mont Mercoux” – in honor of a mountain in France.
This hill, about 20 feet (6 meters) high, was previously captured in all its glory in a selfie taken by Curiosity, as well as a couple of 3D panoramas.
The Curiosity rover was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011. Thus, in the fall, NASA will celebrate ten years since the launch of Curiosity. The rover landed on Mars on August 6, 2012.
