Buryatia may allow the production of cryptocurrencies, but under “certain conditions,” said the head of this Russian region, Alexei Tsydenov. The country’s government may completely ban mining in the republic.

According to the head of Buryatia, the authorities limit mining due to a shortage of energy.

“We have a proposal – legally prescribe, consolidate: the first – that mining does not block the capacities, so that they are legally released for other consumers. Secondly, the miner has the right to work in a period when there are free capacities on the network. This must be prescribed at the federal level, and the region is ready to conduct such an experiment, ”Tsydenov said.

According to him, in Buryatia, a shortage of electricity generation is almost 690 MW plus, capacities of 200 MW are additionally built. On the territory of the republic there is a 100 MW mining farm for 100 MW, not put into operation due to the lack of a “tolerance decision”, the official explained.

Industry and tourism give the region more return, so the priority of the allocation of energy can be given to them, the governor said.

“Mining is not bad when it goes into cooperation as a whole with the energy consumption of the region, but it is necessary to regulate its work regime. A miner can only work when there is no consumption on the network, that is, at night or at a certain time: in the summer or in the offseason, on weekends and so on, ”Tsydenov said.

Since the beginning of June, the Russian government has been considering a year -round ban on mining in Buryatia. The decision was postponed to evaluate the falling income of the electric grid infrastructure and prepare regulatory acts for the redistribution of the power of mining companies in favor of social and industrial facilities.

Earlier, the head of the Federal Tax Service (Federal Tax Service) Daniil Egorov said that infrastructure should be created in Russia for the legal sale of obtained cryptocurrency.
