The Tomsk Region Prosecutor’s Office will conduct an inspection of the activities of Tomskvodokanal after local media reports about the possible operation of a mining farm on the territory of the water intake, as well as complaints from local residents.

The water intake is located in the vicinity of the village of Kaidalovka, Tomsk region. Residents of surrounding communities regularly complained about continuous noise emanating from equipment in the water intake area. They talked about disrupted sleep patterns in children, as well as headaches among many residents. There were reports in local media that the owners of Tomskvodokanal installed equipment for mining cryptocurrency.

“During the inspection, the legality of the actions of the Tomskvodokanal limited liability company will be assessed, as well as the compliance of the activities with the requirements of sanitary-epidemiological, land, tax legislation and pricing legislation,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Earlier it became known that in an apartment building in the Republic of Bashkortostan, local energy workers and law enforcement officers discovered an underground mining farm connected to a communal electricity meter. It recently became known that a large underground miner will be tried in Sakhalin – between December 2020 and the end of May 2022, he stole electricity worth 22 million rubles.
