From September 2026, trading organizations with annual revenue from 120 million rubles working with large banks will have to receive digital rubles. Banks with a universal license and their traders with annual revenue of more than 30 million rubles will have to configure their systems for receiving a digital ruble until September 1, 2027. All other banks and companies – from September 1, 2028. However, the requirements do not apply to outlets in which the revenue for a year is less than 5 million rubles, announced the Central Bank.
Translations will be carried out through a universal QR code, created on the basis of a system of quick payments (St. Petersburg). All banks are required to ensure technical support for this tool by September 1, 2026. The Central Bank said that universal Q.The R-code is already available in the system of quick payments and is provided for free. The terms in which banks are required to connect the universal QR code to sellers will later determine the Board of Directors of the Central Bank.
The new terms of mass implementation of the digital ruble were agreed with the market participants and all interested departments, representatives of the main Russian financial regulator assured.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum stated that the use of a digital ruble should become mass – both among citizens and among enterprises and banks.
