He emphasized that this possibility will be considered at later stages of the promotion of the digital ruble, since the discussion on the restrictions on transactions must be approached with caution.
“Limiting what you can spend a particular unit of money on makes that money less valuable than the money you can spend on anything. Therefore, the question of this kind of functionality should be treated very carefully. Theoretically, this possibility is available,” he said.
According to Zabotkin, the digital ruble will have a positive impact on changes in bank rates.
“Banks, in order to stimulate and retain current liquidity within the banking system in their accounts in the form of non-cash rubles, will be forced to offer customers more attractive conditions for storing this money,” he added.
Recall that all 13 banks that previously announced their participation in the pilot program of the digital ruble have begun to conduct real operations. Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia, spoke about this.
Nevertheless, according to a survey by the Rambler & Co media holding, a little less than half of Russians do not plan to use the digital ruble, which the country’s authorities have recently begun to implement.
