The Bardolino Way: the new eno-gastronomic itinerary on Lake Garda

Lovers of the outdoors and of walks and walks in enchanting places? The Lake Garda it is certainly a destination to be taken into consideration thanks to the numerous itineraries surrounded by greenery to be covered on foot or by bicycle. Among these there is a new path between the hills, the vineyards and the wonderful landscapes of the hinterland of the eastern shore of Lake Garda to discover up close the production area of ​​Bardolino DOC, the famous and beloved Garda red wine.

This is the Way of the Bardolino, that is a set of 18 routes of various lengths suitable for everyone, from the less athletic to expert hikers, which cross 6 municipalities of the lake: Bardolino, Garda, Costermano, Cavaion Veronese, Affi, Rivoli Veronese. Why the Bardolino Way? Simple, along the way there are more 60 farms and wineries producing this wine, from the largest to the smallest realities, where you can stop and discover the traditions of the territory directly from those who know it really well.

The Bardolino Way project, born in 2016 thanks to the economic contribution of the Baldo-Lessinia Local Action Group, has combined 18 routes (which can also be traveled separately) within an area of ​​130 square kilometers. Some itineraries overlook Lake Garda, others wind through the vineyards or climb up the hills, offering enchanting landscapes. The shorter tracks are 3-4 kilometers long, while the more demanding ones reach 20 kilometers.

All the routes can be covered on foot starting from urban centers and are marked by information signs that communicate with the dedicated app thanks to the QR codes on the 53 information panels that also inform about the attractions and wineries. On your smartphone you can also access the maps of each itinerary that tell of an ancient tradition, that of viticulture and winemaking, on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda and at the foot of Mount Baldo.

A centuries-long story that is told in Wine Museum, at the Cantina Zeni, in Costabella, along the panoramic road to Bardolino. In addition to the history of viticulture, the museum rooms also feature the story of all the steps in the production chain from vine to wine. Not to be missed during the visit, the ancient drying plant of the grapes and various tools, but above all the four precious presses for pressing the pomace – among the treasures of the private collection of the Zeni family – dating back to different eras, from 1400 to 1800 .
