The Basque Government constitutes the Commission that will coordinate the projects to be financed with European recovery funds

The Basque Government has constituted the Interdepartmental Commission that will be in charge of coordinating European funds recovery to overcome the crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic.

This commission will be in charge of the preparation, coordination, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the Recovery and Resilience Program of the Basque Country (PRRE 2020-2023) –Euskadi Next-, which will integrate the actions that correspond to the Basque autonomous community in relation to the State Recovery and Resilience Plan that must be presented to the European Union.

Attached to the Department of Economy and Finance, this commission It is made up of representatives of all departments of the Executive, is chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Finance and Budgets, Hernando Lacalle.

The committee will collect the strategic approaches and their corresponding actions for the 2020-2026 period, the possible legislative reforms and the regulations that accompany said actions and all actions

In addition, a model for interlocution and integration of proposals with other public administrations in the Basque Country, social partners and sectors and multilevel groups will be established so that the initiatives are coherent, accepted and allow a successful implementation of Euskadi Next. At the same time, it will carry out the monitoring and evaluation of the execution of the program, and will establish a monitoring mechanism that allows the periodic review of its results to guarantee its compliance.

During the next few days, heads of the Department of Economy and Finance will maintain meetings with the three provincial councils, with the town councils of the three capitals and with EUDEL. Likewise, the Counselor Pedro Azpiazu has requested an appearance in the Basque Parliament to give an account of the approach that is intended to be given from the executive.

The projects included in Euskadi NEXT will be “aligned with country strategies”, indicates the Basque Government and, at the same time, will respond to the criteria set by the Commission to benefit from extraordinary funds for the period 2020-2026 and they must respond to present and future needs, be feasible (aligned with the areas set by the European Union and with sufficient resources for future sustainability), feasible from a technical point of view, that their execution be completed before December 2026, as required by the Commission, and that they are measurable (with clear indicators of result and impact).
