The BBC will cut up to 1,000 jobs, cutting spending by 500 500m a year

The UK’s national news network BBC plans to cut up to 1,000 jobs over the next few years to cut costs by 500 500m a year, according to Bloomberg.

The move comes as part of the BBC’s bid to become a digital-focused body, according to the plan by CEO Tim Davie, who addressed the staff.

The BBC will now have a single 24-hour news channel for both the British and international audiences and will stop broadcasting via the smaller CBBC, BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra channels.
