The best and worst of 2021 TV

Spending a lot of time sealed in the house getting drunk with content to pass the time, trying to cover and dab the thoughts that overwhelmingly appeared in our mind, made us lose sight of the temporal linearity of what we have absorbed, to the point of asking ourselves : did it happen this year or last year? At this edition or the previous one? In the hot months of the pandemic, television kept us company, even if it has not always been able to calm us as we would have liked. The Sanremo Festival, which by script should have recorded Bulgarian plays, has crystallized in an aura of uncertainty and suspension that made the skin crawl even for all those empty armchairs that the director often framed to make us understand that we were at home how much it was It is difficult for artists to sustain an Ariston emptied and darkened by silence.

This was not the time, perhaps. Yet a more just time would never come. The following weeks, however, gave breath back to the many entertainment contents that, in most cases, managed to write very beautiful television pages: fromimpeccable conduction by Miriam Leone the first of the year at the very nice releases of Sabrina Ferilli a You are worth it; from the triumphal return of Zelig in prime time at the exploit of Valeria Fabrizi who, at 85, took home the second place in Dancing with the Stars thanks to a lesson in priceless elegance and self-irony. Let’s not forget, however, the baptism of fire by Ludovico Tersigni a X Factor, of the definitive consecration of Tommaso Zorzi as a judge of that little gem of Drag Race Italia and, last but not least, the explosive talent of Matilda De Angelis at the prime time of Sanremo.

There were some sore points, however. Like the lukewarm reception of the Rai1 verso audience of the big by Alessandro Cattelan; or the very unhappy sentence of Alfonso Signorini on abortion al Big Brother Vip; or again, the monologue on the words of Pio and Amedeo in the program Happy evening of Canale 5. The tumbles, this year, were, however, far less than the pushes upwards, capable of cheering up or even giving a smile in a period in which cheering up and smiling is anything but obvious. In the gallery below, we try to refresh your memory and to remind you the good things and the bad things that have been on television this past year, those that have given us joy and those that have upset us and made us lose confidence. However you think about it, it is a relief that television is still in good health and that it is far from rusty as critics keep writing. Or not?
