The best looks from the red carpet during the Cannes Film Festival 2022

As the 75th Cannes Film Festival comes to an end, it’s time to remember the best moments of fashion in this edition. Scroll through our highlights gallery to see the must-see looks from the event and check out the trends that were present on the red carpet below.

hot off the track

This year, red carpet fashion choices have truly been infiltrated by runway collections – with several personalities opting for looks fresh off the runways of Fall-Winter 2022.

Loewe, whose fantastic show was quickly considered a masterclass in originality, was something of a Cannes favorite. Soo Joo Park wore a printed knit dress and a playfully deflated balloon bra from the new collection, and the French model Jeanne Cadieu arrived arm in arm with Jake Gyllenhaal in a fuschia pink dress with a lip bodice.

Elsewhere at the festival, the German model Caroline Daur wore a pink Valentino minidress and platform heels from the brand’s March catwalk. Iris Law also caught the eye in a gothic corset and midi skirt from Dior’s Fall 2022 collection.

diving into the files

Despite all the novelties on offer, there were some notable examples of vintage fashion. Bella Hadid twice made headlines wearing a vintage 1987 black Gianni Versace strapless dress with a draped taffeta bow, and was later seen in a fall-winter 2003 Versace corset dress on a hotel balcony.

the canadian model Coco Rocha also chose an archival red carpet piece – a black and white John Galliano dress for Christian Dior from 2012.

true to the label

Whether ambassadors or long-time muses, we saw enormous brand loyalty during the festival. The Chanel ambassador, Kristen Stewart for example, always manages to transform the brand’s Parisian personality into something edgier.

During an afternoon photocall for the premiere of David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future,” Stewart opted for a classic tweed suit, showing some skin with the top unbuttoned, and topped it off with a pair of yellow aviator sunglasses. On the red carpet, she masterfully balanced the femininity of her cream silk skirt with an embroidered turtleneck crop top and long sleeves.

In the same way, Isabelle Huppert – who has starred in two brand campaigns since 2021 – wore two Balenciaga looks. The first is an unforgettable emerald green second-skin dress – complete with fitted gloves and boots – showcasing the fashion house’s flair for creating pop culture moments that also feel avant-garde.

However, Huppert later showed a different side of the label in a look straight from his 50th couture collection. The timeless black dress, with a fitted, flared silhouette reminiscent of one worn by Grace Kelly, contrasted directly with the futuristic green ensemble.
