They seriously damage all skin layers, land sunburn they are the result of prolonged exposure to UV rays and they belong to the category of problems which are definitely dangerous for the health of the skin and which should be carefully avoided. When the damage is done they require an emergency treatment made up of timely treatments, which consist in the application of specific protective and calming preparations and in the introduction of simple precautions that allow the skin to quickly regain the lost balance.
The products to use to treat sunburn
The first thing to do is to immediately apply a specific preparation for sunburn after thoroughly cleansing the skin. These products act primarily with a soothing, powerful and instantaneous action, which serves to attenuate the heat generated by redness for the presence of ingredients such as refreshing aloe vera and moisturizing hyaluronic acid, associated with the inclusion of special anti-microbial agents, which reduce the risk of contamination by bacteria that could compromise the healing process. This function serves to alleviate the annoying sense of itching and burning.
The second action exercised by the specialties formulated to effectively treat sunburn is related to protection. The agents contained in the formulations, in fact, create a sort of protective veil that protects against the action of external agents, promote rapid cell renewal and accelerate the time required for healing.
Another important step concerns the frequency of application: it is advisable to renew it frequently, even after a short time (even every 2-3 hours as needed) until the redness has completely disappeared. At each renewal, the skin must always be perfectly clean.
How to promote healing from sunburn
Immediately after a burn caused by UV rays, exposure should be avoided until the skin is completely healed. Here you are the dos and don’ts to relieve discomfort and shorten the time it takes to heal.
- Take frequent baths or cool showers to calm the annoyances.
- When finished, to dry prefer cotton sheets to sponges that create skin discomfort with rubbing.
- Drying should be done by dabbing and avoiding to slide the sheet over the skin, which with this movement would accentuate the discomfort.
- To leave a minimum amount of water droplets on the skin and proceed with the application of the curative treatment: in this way the skin receives a surplus of hydration.
- In case of major burns, consult your doctor if using a cream containing hydrocortisone.
- Drinking lots of water is essential: sunburn attracts liquids to the surface away from the rest of the body. Skin regeneration processes work best by avoiding dehydration.
- Blisters and cuticles should not be removed or teased: they must heal on their own because they are part of the skin cell reconstruction process and detaching them is equivalent to compromising it and exposes you to the risk of infections.
- Outdoors, clothing made with tightly woven fabrics should be preferred: the best ones must not let the light through.
