Put the running shoes and go. Sweaty, with a red face and matted hair: when you run you are yourself precisely because running frees your mind, makes you feel lighter from the superstructures, and does not require the appreciation of others. When you run, you do it for yourself.
Research published by Ipsos in July 2021 it found that women spend 22% less time exercising per week than men. Yet, as the research of Asics State of Mind Index 15 minutes and 9 seconds of physical activity are enough to perceive a benefit on body and mind: a short period of time, and therefore practicable by everyone.
The brands also support women’s running through models of running shoes designed and developed specifically to adapt to women’s feet. Pumafor example, he launched the first Run XX Made of her, carried out in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts biomechanics laboratory, and presenting a research study involving 224 runners who have covered more than 36,000 miles in eight weeks. The new Adidas Ultraboost 22, created by an all-female team, has been designed to fit a women’s foot, starting with specific data on its shape thanks to an online anatomy database containing 1.2 million foot scans. Personalized cushioning at the points of greatest pressure is the main aspect that takes into account the gender difference.
How to choose running shoes
The activity of the race starts right from shoeswhich have a fundamental role in terms of performance but also of motivation. What are the criteria to be evaluated? First, the distance and frequency of the workouts. Then, the weight, the type of cushioning and energy return: all running sneakers are designed to facilitate the reaction of the foot when it touches the ground, making it “fly up”. For this reason, choosing a shoe that is not specific for running risks straining the tendons, ligaments and joints, inducing a wrong foot support. It is estimated that the shoe must absorb two to three times the body weight during the race for this it needs more cushioning.
The most transversal shoes, suitable for all runners and all distances, combine comfort and durability, as well as guaranteeing stability and softness during landing. Softer cushioning, better energy return and longer durability are the features to consider. Running shoes are divided into 8 different categories (from A0 to A7) and in this case we are talking about neutral A3, the ideal alternative for those who run for pleasure and which boasts maximum cushioning. The A4s, on the other hand, which weigh slightly more, but offer greater stability.
