Brightly colored, full of glitter, hand in hand or hugging in groups, like a sort of human chain. It is the people of Primavera Sound of Barcelona. There are still nostalgic people – obviously – and hard and raw music fans, but the most followed European Festival is now GenZ's. But, be careful, we are still far from Coachella. There are influencers, there are hashtags and selfies, but everything (almost) always revolves around the music and performances that animate the eight stages.
We stayed at second day of the Festival, that of National and gods Disclosurebut above all that of Lana Del Rey. Thousands and thousands of people arrived at the Parc del Forum in Barcelona for the singer. Girls in light dresses and flower crowns, guys in tank tops and flared trousers lined up specifically for her concert, and were not disappointed despite the singer's 20 minute delay. For Lana, the audience invaded both spaces in front of the two main stages and then moved. She on the swing with a faint voice, and they are happy and free. All equally aware of the importance of girl power.

Our surprise (but perhaps only because we are just outside of GenZ) was to see Troye Sivan on stage. Twenty-eight years old, born in South Africa and raised in Australia, he earned the title of pop star of the edition, bringing an incredible live show to the stage. He simulated giving oral sex to one of his dancers, performed a lapdance, before returning to mime more sex and transmitting more and more energy. «I love freedom and having sex. I love dancing, I love dance music”, this is his manifesto. And before that he had taken the stage Omar Apollo, one of the singer-songwriters to listen to according to Barack Obama. And until late at night, the list is long. This is the beauty of Primavera.
There are no queues at the Spring Festival, except for the free water fountains. AND glasses are recycled: if you return the glass of the first for the second beer, you pay less. Because, despite the numbers and dimensions (300 thousand square metres), Primavera does everything it can to be a festival green and as sustainable as possible. There are shuttles that take you for free and continuously from Plaça Catalunya to the Parc del Fòrum and free parking for bicycles, there is the grass in the areas around the main lawns which will be reused and then there is Plenitude's commitment, sustainability partner of the Festival from 2022.

Both in Barcelona and in Porto (6 – 8 June) it contributes to powering the Primavera Festival with certified electricity produced by systems powered 100 percent by renewables. And thanks to some interactive screens next to the stages, Plenitude wanted to project images of the audience, filmed live, capturing the energy through some visual effects created by local artists. «A visual installation to involve people and inspire them to become ambassadors of change», says Paolo Contenti, Head of Branding and Communication at Plenitude.

This year's attendance exceeded over 268 thousand participants. But at Primavera you can always breathe, there is space to dance, to jump, to sing. Primavera Sound continues to be like this a great hymn to freedom, a space far from violence and gender discrimination (this year the slogan engraved everywhere was Nobody is normal). It's the genZ who dances, who chats on the lawn, who puts diamonds on their friends' faces, who is moved when Lana Del Rey sings. Fluid and independent. And if a little rain comes in the end, no one cares.
