The ‘bluf’ of Minimum Income: triple the number of cases denied than approved

The Minimum Vital Income it continues to be a chimera for most of the people of Castellón who have applied for this benefit. He Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations has accelerated in recent weeks the procedures to resolve the thousands of files that were pending and has managed to double the number of responses in the province of Castellón. However, what has been the surprise of the applicants when they observe that the number of files that have been denied by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) triples the requests that have been successfully approved.

The Minimum Vital Income reaches 2,053 households in the province of Castellón in December, where 6,144 live, of which almost half (2,984) are minors, as announced by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Jose Luis Escrivá.

During the first six months of existence of the benefit, dedicated to households in vulnerable situations, they have received 15,693 requests of the Minimum Vital Income, detailed from the Ministry. Of the total number of requests that have reached the Ministry through different channels, 1,284 files were duplicated in the province of Castellón, which means that they have only been valid 14,409 files.

In the first six months of validity of the benefit, the Social Security it has processed 70% of the files received from the province of Castellón, that is, 10,188 have been managed.

However, of the total number of files that have been processed, the majority have been denied: 6,305 applications rejected compared to 2,053 approved files. That is, the number of requests that have been denied in the province of Castellón by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) triples the number of files that have been approved.

Thus the things, of the total 10,188 files processed in the province, a total of 8,358 have been resolved, of which 75% have been denied, while the remaining 1,830 files have been asked to correct errors.

The Ministry explains that one of the most common errors detected is the need to complete information. In addition, regarding the files that have been denied, Social Security indicates that most of the cases that have been rejected is due to exceeding income and equity levels.

The reality is that despite the improvements made in the processing, 4,221 files are still pending analysis in the province of Castellón, a good part of them received during the last weeks, since the Social Security continues to receive new application files each week, they report from the Ministry.

In the whole of the national territory, the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) has recognized almost 160,000 households the Minimum Living Income. In this way, the benefit reaches more than 460,000 people in December, of which 47% are minors, as announced by the Minister of Inclusion.

The total gross amount of the December payroll, the seventh paid by the Social Security, will amount to 110 million euros, a figure that also includes the effect of retroactivity from June in the corresponding cases. In total, since this service was launched, the INSS has paid (including this payroll) more than 518 million euros.
