Russia resumed bombing of Azofstal in Mariupol today, shortly after the departure of buses carrying civilians from the factory, an aide to the city’s mayor said today.
Mariupol, which has been at the center of the worst fighting in Ukraine to date, has been largely occupied by the Russians, but an unspecified number of civilians and fighters remain trapped in Azovstal.
The underground network of underground tunnels owned by the mentioned factory facilities, offers shelter from the Russian bombing.
“Yesterday, immediately after the departure of the buses from Azovstal with the civilians, a new bombing started immediately,” Petro Andryuchenko, the deputy mayor, told Ukrainian television.
