The British navy said today it shot down a Houthi missile launched from Yemen that targeted a merchant ship in the Gulf of Aden. According to Britain's Royal Navy, the crew of HMS Diamond – a warship currently in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to “ensure freedom of navigation and the greater security of international waters” – used a missile Sea Viper to shoot down Houthi missile. “The UK continues to be at the forefront of the international response to the dangerous attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis on merchant ships, which have claimed the lives of seafarers of many nationalities,” British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said in a statement.
