Samima Begum, the young woman who had joined ISIS in Syria, as a result of which she was deprived of her British citizenship, today (15/9) the United Kingdom begged her to allow her to return, assuring that she had not committed any crime, other than that it seemed “stupid”.

Samima Begum, then 15 years old had left in 2015 with two friends from the United Kingdom, where she was born and raised, to go to Syria. There she married an Islamic State jihadist of Dutch descent, eight years her senior.

Now she wants to return to her country to apply to regain her British citizenship, which was taken away from her in 2019 for reasons of national security in a country injured by a series of attacks in 2017, the responsibility for which had been taken over by the Islamic State.

“I am ready to appear in court, to face the people who have made these allegations and to deny them, because I know I did nothing in the Islamic State other than be a mother and a wife,” she told ITV. the young woman who is now 22 years old.

After escaping the fighting in eastern Syria, Samima Begum was found in February 2019 in a Syrian refugee camp where she gave birth to a baby, which ended a few weeks after its birth. Her first two children, who were born while she was in Syria, have also died.

The British woman who went to Syria for ISIS: I would rather die than return to the Islamic State

Samima Begum, who did not wear a headscarf and had her hair loose on her shoulders during the interview, said she “would rather die than return to Islamic State” He added: “The only crime I committed was that I was stupid enough to join the Islamic State.”

Addressing Prime Minister Boris Johnson directly, he said: “I think I could help you a lot in your fight against terrorism because it is clear that you do not know what you are doing.”

In February 2019, Samima Begum spoke to the British media dressed in a black veil that reached to her feet. She was shocked at the time by her unequivocal statements – she described the attack in Manchester, which claimed the lives of 22 people in May 2017, as “retaliation” for the Western coalition’s blows against the Islamic State – and the lack of remorse.

Today he stated that “She did not know about the attack in Manchester when she was asked.”

In February this year, the British Supreme Court refused to allow her to return to the United Kingdom, declaring that as long as Samima Begum was considered a danger, she could not return to the United Kingdom to challenge the revocation of her citizenship.

London had said that the young woman has the opportunity to apply for the nationality of her parents’ country of origin, Bangladesh. But Dhaka had replied that Samima Beckum had never applied for citizenship and had refused to accept it.
