Google has added a new feature to the Clock app that lets you record your own alarm and timer sounds within the app itself. The innovation is deployed through a server-side update, the corresponding option is available in the application settings of version 7.3.
Despite the fact that Google Clock has long allowed you to add any audio file as an alarm or timer signal, this process, as it turned out, is not so simple. The file must first be copied to the “Alarm Clocks” folder in the internal memory of the device using the file manager. Only then will it show up as one of the available options for the alarm tone when the user clicks the Add button.

With the new feature, you no longer have to go through such complications, since you can now directly record sounds for an alarm or timer right in the application. The option is called “New Recording” and clicking on it opens the “Voice Recorder” application, which allows you to quickly create a new sound. Unfortunately, this feature is currently limited to Pixel smartphones as the Voice Recorder app is exclusive to Google devices. But there is a way out – you can download the ported version to your smartphone, and then everything will work.
