The bust of Maria Callas was placed in the Opera of Rome

The bust of the legend of Lyric, Maria Callas, was permanently placed inside the Rome opera. It is a work by Greek sculptor Nikos Floros, made of steel, totaling seventy pounds. It is recalled that the Greek loudspeaker had left the scene of the Rome Opera House- with a great deal of vocal problems- before the first performance of “Norma” was completed in January 1958. Soprano Myrto Papathanasiou and pianist Yiannis Tsanakaliotis. It was a first move of symbolic “reconstruction”, six decades after the interruption of Maria Calas’ collaboration with this theater. The placement of the bust designed by Nikos Floros, indoors of the theater, dedicated to Maria Kalogeropoulou, is yet another important move by which the Italian capital honors the memory of the unparalleled Greek artist.
