The campaign for Sunday’s parliamentary elections is being completed today in Portugal

The campaign for the parliamentary elections in Portugal is being completed today, two days before the ballots are opened, with outgoing Prime Minister Luis Montenegro appearing as a favorite, but without being able to say if he manages to form a government more stable than he led a year. Its Government Coalition of the moderate right, the Democratic Alliance (AD), garner 32.2% in the vote intent, compared to 26.5% for the Socialist Party (PS), according to Radio Renascença. The far right Chega party (Chega, ‘quite’) could garner 17.6% of the vote, about the same percentage as the March 2024 elections, and thus consolidate its position as the country’s third political power.
