The ‘Canelo’ buys the entire bus line in which he got on to sell popsicles

In the wide world of celebrities, there have always been artists who forget their roots because of the fame that acts as a mist in front of their eyes. But to our good fortune, we have the other side of the coin, where we find those celebrities who, once they hit stardom, never forget where they came from and are therefore constantly appreciative of the support they receive.

Such is the case of the professional boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, 32, who from the beginning was very clear about the love he professed for Mexico, the country where he was born and where he forged his great talent. For this reason, he positions himself as one of the most beloved athletes among Mexicans, while he also reciprocates the affection of his people with various actions that do not go unnoticed.

Canelo Álvarez in his childhood and currently

One of his most recent acts of love was the acquisition of a public transport line originating from his native Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, which covers the municipalities of Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Chapala and El Salto. This purchase was not just one more investment for the businessman, but it is an act of nostalgia and gratitude, since during his childhood, he used those routes to sell ice pops.

In an interview with Adela Micha, on the channel The Saga, the WBA world champion confessed that he had made the purchase due to the sentimental value and the history of overcoming that the most important route in Jalisco means to him. In addition, he said that it is a way to grow the line and help his compatriots from Guadalajara, whom he has supported with the acquisition of several businesses that are now more popular.

It’s out of sentimental pride, that I sold popsicles there and that’s where I was going to train. I bought it and that is to motivate many. I am proud of that, it taught me to work, it taught me to be responsible. Since I was a child, since I was five years old, I’ve helped my father, at seven I started to get on trucks to sell popsicles and that made me a responsible man, hardworking from a very young age.

For this reason, the boxer did not hesitate to turn once again to his past and make it clear that wherever he goes, his origins are deeply rooted. The transport line joins a long list of businesses that “Canelo” has acquired in various states of Mexico, among which is a chain of paleterias (the same ones that he sold as a child), the taco shop El Pastor del Rica , a tamale joint that he opened with his brother, among others.
