The forbidden ingredient is the “TPO” (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide), a substance that gives the nails to the nails over-the-top finish and a quick drying when exposed to UV or LED light. However, its use was considered toxic by European authorities, as studies have shown that it may cause fertility problems and effects on the reproductive system. The manicure gel, which has been gaining more popularity since the 2000s, offers a durable, glamorous effect that lasts weeks without peeling.
