The Central Bank of the Netherlands (DNB) punished the cryptocurrency exchange OKH with a fine of $ 2.6 million for activities without registration, which lasted from July 2023 to August 2024.

The absence of a license for the offer of cryptocurrency trading services without registration grossly violates the rules for the fight against laundering illegal income (AML), mandatory for all participants in the Netherlands crypto from 2020, DNB said. OKH unreasonably enjoyed a competitive advantage over companies in DNB, namely, it did not pay mandatory fees to the Central Bank and refused to comply with the requirements of local authorities, officials announced.

The fine of $ 2.6 million was the minimum amount among all similar penalties imposed on large trading platforms presented in the Netherlands. OKH has already corrected the situation and transferred all the Dutch users to its European platform licensed according to the rules of Markets in Crypto Assets (Mica).

Earlier, the court in the Hague ordered the largest crypto -story of the Binance world to reveal the identity of the owner of the account that made fraud with digital assets by 186,000 euros (about $ 199,296).
