The Central Bank revoked the license from WebMoney: the system no longer works with ruble transactions

The WebMoney company announced the impossibility of further work with millions of Russian wallets. Today, February 11, the Central Bank revoked the license for banking operations from the Conservative Commercial Bank JSC (KKB), which is the official settlement partner of the international electronic payment system. She has been working in Russia for more than 20 years, since 1998.

All operations with WMP and WMR wallets in the country become unavailable, and the funds of users stored in them are currently frozen forcibly. The payment system promises the owners to compensate for closed accounts, but the return procedure will be discussed later.

According to the Central Bank, the license of JSC Bank “KKB” was revoked due to its involvement in servicing “shadow gambling business and illegal participants in the financial market.” WebMoney claims that the accusations against the partner are “far-fetched and have nothing to do with the actual activities of the organization.” The company notes that KKB acted strictly in accordance with Russian law and the requirements of the regulator.
