“The changes are mesmerizing.” Hubble telescope captures seasons on Saturn

The Hubble Telescope has captured the changes in Saturn’s atmosphere as it transitions from summer in the northern hemisphere to autumn. This was reported by the press service of the NASA observatory.

In the photo taken by the telescope, the planet was filmed in 2018-2020 – scientists note that over the years Saturn has become 5-10% brighter.

The speed of winds near the planet’s equator has also changed: in 2018 it was about 1000 miles / hour, and in 2019-2020 – about 800 miles / hour.

“These small yearly changes in Saturn’s color bands are mesmerizing,” said Amy Simon, a planetary scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt.
