The chef who has not put food in her mouth for six years

Loretta Harmes has not eaten anything for 6 years, this of course has not stopped her from working professionally in the kitchen.

It was 2015 when 23-year-old Loretta lived on liquefied meals for years. She rarely sat at the table to eat with her family. Only now he could not swallow anything.

Every bite she puts in her body has negative consequences for her, like pain. But also the fact that he can not go to the toilet for weeks, even months.

After years without a diagnosis, she now knows what she is suffering from and cannot put a bite in her mouth. Despite the fact that she has been cooking since she was 11 years old.

At 15 she was diagnosed with anorexia, a situation that ended, however, in less than a year. But he continued to have problems with the digestive system.

From the age of 19 her condition worsened, she began to lose weight quickly and no one knew why. They assumed a number of psychological disorders or even psychiatric illnesses.

She herself has done several suicide attempts, from despair and chronic stomach pain.

The girl suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), a genetic disorder that manifests itself in various ways. In Loretta she has made her stomach partially paralyzed, unable to digest food. He also suffers from migraines, fatigue and tachycardia.

The syndrome is so rare that there is little research. It usually takes 10-14 years to be diagnosed.

It now feeds on a complete parenteral diet, attached for 18 hours a day to a bag of liquid food to bypass the digestive system.
