The Chinese giant acquired the studio that produces the best PS4 exclusives

Today, August 31, the management of NetEase Games (a subsidiary of the Chinese giant NetEase) officially announced the acquisition of the French studio Quantic Dream. It is worth recalling that the gaming division of NetEase has already cooperated with Quantic Dream some time ago, and since then rumors have periodically appeared on the network that the Chinese company wants to acquire a French team to create multi-platform projects. And although so far there is no exact information about the upcoming projects of the studio yet, the developers are already talking about very ambitious plans that will be realized solely thanks to the support of the new owner.

“We need more investment to become an international publisher. They will allow us to develop our technology and infrastructure, release even more impressive video games and expand the team,” a statement from the Quantic Dream official blog.

Also in the publication of the development team it is said that NetEase Games will not interfere in the work of the studio – Quantic Dream remains an independent team that retains the ability to independently choose interesting ideas, embody them in video games and, importantly, release them on all available platforms . What’s more, Quantic Dream staff have stated that they will now support and publish games developed by third-party teams during development. This means that the legendary studio will not only remain independent (although absolutely all companies say so at the time of the sale), but will also act as a publisher.

Previously, Quantic Dream became famous for its exclusive video games for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 game consoles – Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human are almost the best projects on this platform.
