The Christmas themed episodes of the TV series to (re) see during the holidays

The typical American diner, a portion of pancakes and the melancholy atmosphere of the Eve. The ingredients for the perfect Christmas episode are all there and if we add But e Rue gathered to talk about their lives, well… then it means that Euphoria has already given us the gift of Christmas a few weeks in advance. Yes, because the special that aired on December 6, entitled Trouble Don’t Last Always, is a small light at the end of the tunnel that rekindles the typical hope of this time of year and suggests that – fortunately – problems do not last forever.

But hey, if you have not yet recovered from the vision, know that – for each of our favorite series – there is an episode dedicated to December 25th. To laugh, cry, get excited or simply disconnect from the usual conversations with relatives, here are the Christmas themed episodes of the TV series to (re) see during the holidays.

RIVERDALE 2X09: A THRILLING CHRISTMAS

The original title of the episode is Silent Night, Deadly Night in reference to the cult film of the same name from the 1980s: a horror that tells the story of a child traumatized by the heinous murder of his parents at the hands of a man disguised as Santa Claus. For this, he will grow up without love, transforming himself into a serial killer. To (re) see not only for the Christmas atmosphere, the luxurious home decorations Lodge and the exchange of gifts between the protagonists. But why, each of them, teaches us something: Veronica e Archie to forgive, Jughead to be brave, Betty that it is important to question oneself. Anyone can hide a dark side, but this final midseason’s Riverdale it makes us reflect on the fact that no one is born bad and that, at the same time, we cannot save ourselves.

SKAM 2X10: MINUTE BY MINUTE

In the episode with a Christmas background that closes the second season of Shame, the relationship between Martino e Niccolò evolves and the two teach us to live “minute by minute”, without worrying too much about the future. The closing of the circle of the protagonists’ lives comes precisely with the preparation of the party of Christmas and with the relative bingo: there are those who return to the city, those who reconcile with their friends, those who prepare the decorations with their mother, those who put aside asti and grudges and apologize. You know, at this time of the year everyone is better. So get ready, because in this episode we are moved and laughed a lot, but also important issues such as discrimination and mental health are addressed. It is worth (re) seeing it because it shows us how good it is not to be (anymore) afraid and not ashamed of being yourself.

THE CROWN 2X05: MARIONETTE

Elizabeth II sits on the British throne since 1952 and every year, on the occasion of the Christmas, prepare a speech to read to the subjects. But, just as shown by this Christmas-themed episode of The Crown, for that of 1957 the queen made a revolutionary choice: for the first time, thanks to BBC, his face entered the houses through the TV, bringing it closer to the people. But the undertaking was not that simple. As we see in the episode, Lord Altrincham must work with all his strength to make her understand that the monarchy must be renewed. Even if it doesn’t seem like it, the 2 × 05 sums up a bit the true spirit of this party: the year that ends is something that, for better or for worse, we leave behind. Changes are frightening, it’s true. But often, behind the fear, there is only a little hiding the insecurity of not pleasing others. In these cases, however, the best choice is precisely to go against the future and embrace it strongly.

GLEE 3X09: AN EXTRAORDINARY CHRISTMAS

What’s more beautiful than Christmas songs? Easy: the playlist of Glee of the various Christmas themed episodes, all to be sung at the top of your lungs. This is my absolute favorite. Attention … it does not contain spoilers, but an original song, a long list of gifts, some misunderstandings and the most beautiful message of all: sometimes under the tree we already have everything we need and we only realize it when we lose it. For this reason, every now and then, it would be nice to put aside yourself, your selfishness and think about those who really need the essentials to live. Especially these days.

GOSSIP GIRL 1X11: A BOYFRIEND ALL OF HER

Roman Holiday, the title in English, recalls that of the famous film with Audrey Hepburn e Gregory Peck. Not surprisingly, the favorite actors of Blair Waldorf, the absolute protagonist of this episode of Gossip Girl with a super Christmas spirit. As we all know, the feasts ofUpper East Side they are not such without some drama. Ok, it’s December 24th and B asks a Santa Claus to be able to see his father again Harold, who lives in Europe. His wish comes true, but not as hoped, because the man returns to New York just with Roman, the French boyfriend for whom she left her mother. Between spite, revenge, misunderstanding and laughter, here is a light episode, but also significant, which shows us how much love can make us accept even what we cannot understand.

THE OC 1X13: EVERYONE’S PARTY

To be enjoyed strictly under the covers, perhaps sipping a nice cup of hot chocolate. One of the most beautiful episodes of The O.C, to actually review whenever we feel like it (but during the holidays it is a must). Thanks to the 1 × 13 we discover the Chrismukkah, a nice gimmick of Seth Cohen which unites the Christian tradition with the Jewish one. Be careful, however, because he would like to celebrate it in a big way, but nothing will go according to his plans … double gifts, two of spades, family dramas and past wounds are the background to an episode that shows us how the Christmas is truly everyone’s party. Because? It is the one where the only desire is to be happy and to be with the people we love.
