Cryptocurrency exchange CoinEx, whose hot wallets were attacked, promised that all users will receive compensation for the damage.

At the moment, site specialists are still calculating the exact amount of losses, but it is already known that the amount of stolen assets exceeds $27 million. Hackers managed to withdraw ETH, TRON, MATIC and other coins from the company’s hot wallets. At the same time, the exchange’s cold wallets remained intact.

Exchange specialists managed to identify three sets of addresses to which the hackers withdrew funds. Representatives of CoinEx contacted other sites and various cryptocurrency projects in order to freeze at least some of the stolen assets.

Most likely, the hackers managed to gain access to the private keys from the exchange’s hot wallets. CoinEx promised that the withdrawal of funds will be resumed as soon as possible, after all the addresses of the hackers have been identified and the damage has been accurately calculated.

Let us remind you that the CoinEx hot wallets were hacked on September 12th. Hackers managed to withdraw 4,947 ETH, 408,741 DAI and various other tokens and coins.
