The commercial world is satisfied with the abolition of the luxury tax on fur and silversmithing

The president of the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, George Karanikas, characterizes the abolition of the luxury tax as an essential step for the survival of the fur industry and silversmithing, with a significant contribution to the Greek economy.

Specifically, Mr. Karanikas stated:

“ESEE welcomes the decision of the Ministry of Finance to submit for voting a provision providing for the abolition of the 10% Luxury Tax on fur products, goods that are the raw materials for the production of finished fur products, as well as silver products This development will help these two important sectors of the economy to continue their efforts to regain their competitiveness and growth prospects, which, in the midst of successive economic crises for many years, were severely affected by the maintenance of this unjust and unreasonable taxation. which was a remnant of memorandum policies.

Especially for the Greek fur industry, the abolition of the luxury tax is only one of the many links in the “chain” of support measures – some of which have been launched and others are under consultation – which need to be implemented as counterweights to the severe effects of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. We hope that by continuing the constructive cooperation between ESEE – of which the Hellenic Fur Federation is a member – and the relevant ministries, we will achieve the best possible response to the great challenges facing the industry. ”
