The Commission received the approval of the program ‘Competitiveness 2021-2027’

The “Competitiveness 2021-2027” program was approved today by the European Commission, with a public expenditure of € 3.9 billion, of which € 3.1 billion comes from Community funds from the ERDF and ECB + Funds. This is the first program of the NSRF 2021-2027 approved by the European Commission.

The “Competitiveness 2021-2027” program is a comprehensive intervention that will support the productive, competitive and extroverted sectors of the economy in their transition to a growth model guided by the Knowledge Economy, largely reflecting the development priorities of the country and in harmony. with the new Commission priorities.

It is the implementation tool of the National Strategy for Smart Specialization (ESEE) that connects research and innovation with entrepreneurship and the enhancement of national and regional strengths. It is also in line with the policies of the European Union for the digital and green transformation of the Greek economy, promoting interventions and investments that contribute to the goals set at European level.

In the long run, the goal of the program is to increase the size of Greek companies and strengthen their extroverted orientation to be a key lever for the development of the Greek economy. In this context, its strategy is complementary to the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism (RRF), which funds reforms and long-term investments for productivity and resilience of the economy.

The strategy of the “Competitiveness 2021-2027” program is organized in four main areas of investment under the respective Funds:
-Strengthening Research and Innovation (ERDF)
-Supporting Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness (ERDF)
-Improving Business Access to Financing (ERDF)
-Human Capital Development in the Context of Development Transformation (ECB +)

Indicative Actions of the Program are the following:

-Support productive investments with emphasis on innovation, technological adaptation, digital transformation and the shift to environmentally friendly processes and products

-Development of the production of internationally marketable products and services

-Strengthening the new / young entrepreneurship of high added value

-Support for the development / adoption of innovations

– Entrepreneurship support services and creation of a favorable business environment

-Upgrading and quality modernization of the tourist product

Encourage clusters and / or SME collaborations with each other and / or with larger companies

-Development / Upgrading of structures / mechanisms to support entrepreneurship

-Environmental infrastructure / green development

The flagship actions of the program include:
