The company rejected her in her job interview for “smiling too much” and “that is not very professional”

Surely it has happened to you that you have a job interview, you are sure that everything went wonderfully and that in a matter of days you will have a new and magnificent job, only to receive a rejection email a few days later.

Facing a job rejection is always tough, regardless of the reasons or the circumstances. But it is even more disconcerting when they tell you that they rejected you for a reason … something strange, as happened a couple of weeks ago to the young Argentine Manuela Fernández.

Is smiling unprofessional?

The 26-year-old has worked professionally in the Human Resources area. You recently submitted an interview via Zoom for a position that interested you and received one of the weirdest responses we’ve ever seen.

We explain: they did not give him the job and the company let him know via email, in which they also gave him feedback, explaining the reasons why it was rejected. And, well, judge for yourself.

That?! It would never have crossed our minds that giving a nice and pleasant impression would be frowned upon by companies. Since when does being an extrovert have something to do with a lack of commitment? It’s an answer that, frankly, seems ridiculous to us.

Upon receiving this email, Manuela was very surprised and decided to share it on the LinkedIn social network. Of course, hiding the name of the company.

Always positive

Regarding her feelings after reading the email, Manuela tries to take it lightly. She knows that she is a nice person and that she will be able to adapt to any work environment without any problem due to her warmth and friendliness.

At first I was angry. but now I laugh, I think the laugh is louder than me. I like to be positive, to see the glass full, to see the good in situations and people.
