“The Competitor”: premiere of film with Glen Powell is brought forward, says website

The adaptation of “The Competitor “, book by Stephen King 77, starring Glen Powell 36, was brought forward by Paramount, according to Deadline.

The website informs that the decision was made so that the production does not clash with “Wicked: For Good”, the second and final part of the film starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande . As a result, the film was released on November 21st. November 7, 2025 .

A futuristic romance, “The Competitor” is a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story follows Ben Richards (Glen Powell), a man in despair, who enters a cruel reality show called “The Competitor”, hoping to earn enough money to save his sick daughter’s life.

During the program, however, Richards finds himself being hunted by several enemies, hired to kill him. The cast also features Josh Brolin (“Dune: Part 2”), Lee Pace (“Foundation”), Katy O’Brian (“Love Lies Bleeding: Love Bleeds”), William H. Macy (“Shameless”), Emilia Jones (“CODA”) and Michael Cera (“Arrested Development”).

King’s book was previously adapted in the 1987 film “The Survivor”, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. With direction from Edgar Wright (“Em Ritmo de Fuga”), the film is not yet scheduled for release in Brazil.
