With the governing majority arguing that a major reforming step is being taken to strengthen and extrovert the Greek public universities and the opposition accusing it of abolishing their autonomous democratic function without any dialogue with the academic community, it continues for a second day in the Plenary of Parliament debates the Ministry of Education’s bill for the new management framework of HEIs.
The discussion of the bill is expected to end late at night with its passing, while the leader of the official opposition, Alexis Tsipras, will take the floor early in the afternoon.
Only the ND has stood in favor of the principle of the bill, while all the opposition parties have declared that they will vote against it, except for the Hellenic Solution, which has reserved its opinion.
