Signed today, June 8, 2022, between the Minister of Finance Mr. Christos Staikouras, as a representative of the Greek State, and the Athens IRC Concessionaire (MGGR LLC, MGE HELLINIKON BV and GEK TERNA SA Holdings, Real Estate, Construction), Concession Agreement for the operating license of the Casino Company (EKAZ) of a wide range of activities in the Metropolitan Pole of Elliniko – Agios Kosmas and the construction of hotels, a conference and exhibition center and a public gathering place for sporting or cultural events.
The signing of the Concession Agreement is another important step for the progress of the emblematic project of the Development of the Metropolitan Pole of Elliniko – Agios Kosmas, with positive consequences for the development of the Greek economy, the creation of new jobs and the construction of projects with multiple benefits for society, notes the Ministry of Finance in a relevant announcement and adds:
The Concession Agreement is part of a network of important legislative interventions, but also maturation actions, undertaken by the Ministry of Finance from July 2019 until today, in the direction of starting and implementing the investment in Elliniko.
The Ministry of Finance, firmly committed to the development planning of the Government, with faith in the development possibilities of the project and with the appropriate security required by the defense of the public interest, continues to contribute, in practice and consistently, to the rapid start and development of a large the national economy.
G. Peristeris: It is the Greek companies that turn their backs
“Today is an important day, which marks the beginning of the effort to implement one of the largest investments currently being promoted in Greece, with multiple benefits for our country, said the president and CEO of GEK TERNA, George Peristeris. the current signing of the Concession Agreement.

For the GEK TERNA Group, the integrated tourism development in Elliniko is a great challenge and we are fully aware of the responsibility we undertake. Proof of how we perceive our role as a Greek company that constantly wants to support our place is the fact that in an extremely difficult situation for the project, we decided to support this investment by taking it 100%, while initially our participation was 35%.
At this point I would like to thank both the Greek State and Lamda Development for the cooperation to date and to emphasize that in this case it became absolutely clear why it is extremely crucial for Greek companies to actively participate in large investments, which are a ‘bet’ for the country. “Of course, foreign investors are welcome, but it is the Greek companies that turn their backs when difficulties arise in large investments, because we live and breathe here and our survival and development are perfectly in line with the progress and prosperity of our country.”
